Referring to the old copper plate that was dug up in Sydney on Wednesday, the ' Evening News' says : — The exact locality of the find was within a few yards of the fruit chop at the corner of Bridge and Philip streets. Cricket. To the Editor of the Blayney Advocate and Carcoar Herald. [Newspaper Article] — The Blayney Advocate and Carcoar Herald — 11 March 1899

Cricket. To the Editor ef the Blayney Advocate and Oarcoar Herald. Dear Sir, — I noticed iu last Saturday's issue of the ' West Macquario ' a report of the result of the cricket match played at Barry oa 25th ultimo, between the Blayney Y.M.C.C. aud a Barry team. Tli« editor of tha ' West Macquarie ' took the scores quite correctly, and announced that it was a very exciting contest, which was also correct. Then bo refers to a previous match played at Blayney between the same teams,' which was won easily by the Blayneyites, and attributes the fact that the close con test match played last at Barry was due to there being no refreshments available. Judging from the way the editor writes, one would actually think the Barry boys wera supplied with refreshments when they visited Biayney, but they were not — not evea a drink of water except what they procured for themselves, aud I am sure no great amount of civility was shown them. In fact one of the Barry boys was forced to the painful dut...

Terrible Accident at Parkcs. A terrible explosion was heard at. tha Phoenix mine at 1.30 on Tuesday, and the dense volumes of smoke ascending from the locality indicated that the boiler had ex ploded. II l» t !? ??! ??»? 1 I. ^W BlautlKrauia. [FROM O3H CQERIiSPOSDESI.] Manduramji as the Federal capital has been mentioned by many that should know, also by the metropolitan press. It is stated that Manduiamtv ia tho most suitable site of any place yp-t mentioned for the future capital of a United Australia. The climate is most salubrious, the scenery surrounding tlie town is most elmnuiH'' with theBelabulft river running quite closo, and the many thousand acres of Crown lands all help to make it the most suitable site of any yet mentioned for a great city, while tho Blay ney-ITarden line of railway runs through the town, so that visitors from the southern capital could travel direct. Mandurama has *a advantage which none of tho other places mentioned possesses,' and that is that it has only recently beeu formed, so that' tho Federal Government would be able to take possession of it without much ex pense.
