CJommntiat. Grenfell Record Office. , : , ?? ? ?? ?..?-.'?'?? Friday Evening. Another splendid fall' of rain has visited the district and in fact almost the whole country. Reports from every quarter aro of the most gratifying character, - and a mngnificent season is certain. Stock of every kind is in good con dition, and with the present abundance of fnod must contimie to improve. Now and a«ain tho cry is heard of too much ram,' and fear is 'ex- pressed that the wheat in some quarters is iikely to suffer from rust. Shearing operations have also been suspended. A few days of sun shine will sot the shears at work again, and dry tho land sufficiently to permit the sheep to eat off the too luxuriant wheat crops. With regard to this season's clip, tho gener il belief is, that it will bo exceedingly good, both in quality and quavtity. Mil. J. L. Waugh Reports : — Business of every description is very quiet. ' Cootamunclra Vigilance Committee, September 3, 1879.' oir,— - uy direction of tho above Committee, I havo much plensm-o in addressing you on the subject of the' railway to Blaynoy. ns proposed to be constructed by the pre-ent Government. ' I have to offer the Grenfell Railway League the co-operation of the Committee in endeavour ing to securo a trial survey from Cootamundra, via the Bland, and Grenfell. 'If the Government would show a determi nation to act independently of 'all consideration for local interests, and act upon the advice of the engineers ; nd other servants of the country, then thore might bo no 'occasion for local agitations.about the route the railway line should take. I is Excellency Lord Loftus, in addressing the Jil.y fathers, at tho lato banquot givon by the tlayor of Sydney, won his loudest cheer when minting out the paramount importance of pro 'iding for the sanitary welfare of the ponple. THE DOG NUISANCE. To the Editor of the Grenfell Uncord. Sin, — T was pleased lo read 'A Hoiseuian's ' lutter about tho iloys, in lust week's paper, and hope, as tho polico-havo rathi-r a slack time of it just now in this honest district of oiir's,-they will sjjend an occasional hour ortwuliimiingup the owners of offending dogs. I know a wretch of a:i animal which has a clever sneaking way ofcir ciiitoiisly crawling up to.pnsscrs-by, and without either snarl or bark, making a sudden snap at them.
