This now appears to be the fact. Growers have lost heav ily of late, and anxious inquiries are being made as to whethertheschool master referred to is yet available with his offer....

'Little Wet Fecst.' P.v W. G. TARBET. (Reprinted from the 'People's Friend.) ' Really, John !' said Mrs. Ed wards, and none but a married man can know how much derision, con tempt, and long-suffering can be carried in such a simple phi'ase! The Revi Mr. Edwards looked up, his handsome face darkening, the boyish gladness banished from his eves. 'What is it now, Marion?' he asked gently enough, but with veiled impatience. ' I do wish you would not give Dora sweets at breakfast-titae,' she said. ' But you often do,' he retorted, losing control of himself, . and launching into one of thost: trivial quarrels the* had become frightfully commen of late. A pleasant manse ; the breakfast room flooded with Ma}- morning sun, a handsome man, a pretty woman, a six-year-old elf of glad ness answering to the name of Dora, and — a quarrel. Poor old human nature. And when Dora heard the tones of angry voices her glad eyes sad dened, the vigour fled from 'her limbs. What was the use of dan cing, of d...
