SMITH'S CREEK' AND COOLGARRA. (From the Cairns 'Post') Mount Cardwell.— A low ironstone outcrop 414 miles from the Ord siding, and 7 miles westerly from Nymbool is being worked for iron ore by the Mount Molloy Company. The ore body, which contains a percentage of copper, Is reached by a tunnel 200ft. long. It Is some 60ft long by 40 broad, and is being stoped out towards the surface, and the spaces pig-styed nnd filled In with mullock through several shallow shafts reaching to the surface. The ore Is carted to a siding on the Mount Garnet railway, about 4Vi miles. About 10 tons a day are carted to the siding and loaded in trucks en route for Blboohra, whence it is now carted to Mount Mol loy. Some 8 or 9 men are employed. The Nvmbool Oueen.— A till lode sit uated at Nymbool close to the railway line is here being worked by Petllt, Bray, and O'Brien. The statutory meeting of the New Einaslelgh Copper Mines was held In London lately. The chairman said that the managing director, Mr Wood head, has stated that the mine should pay handsomely on the completion ot the Etheridge railway, even with cop per as low as £50. A Manchester sharcbroker is sending round puffing circulars about Mills' D.D. United shares; he offers 400 at 20s free of commission, and anticipates their soon going to 30s.
