THE QUEEN'S HERD [Newspaper Article] — The Kiama Reporter and Illawarra Journal — 5 July 1899

THE QUEEN'S HERD Ir is evident that if it he true that "there is a divinity that dothl hedge a king " or a queen,,tho protection is not extended to the live stock in the house. hold of the royal personago. The results of the application of the tuber. oulin test to lher Majesty's hord of 40 cows at Shaw farm have caused a great sensation in England. Maoro than 70 per cent of tile cows reacted, and were found to be diseased. Althlough tlhe cows looked healthy, and had boon properly roared and caredl for, there is really nothing very remarkable in tihe affair. Tho percontage is not equal ,o the highest that lis bhen disclosed by the test in England, where the olosest calculatione possible show that the proportion of all the cows used that would react to the test would be from 20 to 70 per cento, But in the case of the Shaw farm herd Iho cows that did not react were killed; careful post mortom examinations were made, and the results published in detail. The publication, together with th...
