There have been several cases ol low fever of the typhoid type, some of which have proved fatal. — Lachlan Reporter. The Weather at Albury. — Tbe copious rain which appears to have fallen in Sydney and in some parts of the settled districts was only partially extended to Albury. On Sunday night a few slight showers fell in this district which had the effect of restoring a good deal of the wheat to healthy condition. The Governor's speech fit the opening of Par liament must be accepted, we think, with some degree of satisfaction. It is at least consoling ro find that the revenue for the current year will cover the expenditure. That members ac cepted it in such a satisfactory point of view is evideut, for in both Houses no amendment was moved to it. Although the leader of the oppo sition in the Assembly endeavoured to throw some disparagement upon it, he not only failed in tlie attempt, but brought down upon himself some home strictures from the Premier. In ad dressing himself to the land policy he fairly charged Mr. Martin with palpable inconsis tency, who, he stated, when member of bis cabinet supported the very policy he now at tempted to denounce. Until this said policy is more practically defined it would he impossible to - give even a passing opinion on its merits. There always were from all time, and we sup pose there always will be, contents and non contents on every question. Perhaps it ...

[j. b. elwobthy, auctioneeb] Reports a decline in the prices of cattle and horse stock ; in fact there is no demand here for inferior horses, and dealers in consequence have to take them to Melbourne. During the past fortnight two large mobs have been sent to Victoria. Really goo. I animals will command a fair price, and in order to supply the wants of the district, Mr. Elworthy will offer for sale by auction next Thursday a very superior lot of animals which are worth the atten tion of breeders and agriculturists. Vehicles are seldom enquired after, although Mr. Elworthy has one or two in his hands for sale very olieap. Light one-horse drays are mostly in demtnd, but none are obtainable just now.
