j£t ^tottd |(ournaL ST. CLOUD, MINNESOTA Thursday Nov. 17,1875. GOOD TraKS~i,Oir~FAl»IKlW. The Buffalo Live Stock Journal be lieves that times of business depression are generally more favorable to farm ers than to men of any other business. Tb/s theory needs some modification, as it is a not that when farmers are prosperous the business interests of all classes are speedily placed on a sound footing. It is more probably true that panics are the final result of a series of bad years with farmers, and that after panics business first revives with their prosperity. Here is what the Journal says on the subject, and we believe its cheerful view of the sit uation is fully warranted by the facts: "The last two years have been quite equal in thrift to the farmer with an average of the last ten years. The ten.years succeeding a financial crisis usually show a more prosperous decade for agriculture than the pre ceding. It is more infinancialde pressions that people examine the ba sis of thin...

^Ianrl IJaurnaL ST. CLOUD, MINNESOTA Thursday Nov. 18,1875. A S O in W S IN'WiNTKRr This is the method of caring for fowls in the winter season that was practiced by the late C. \V. Dicker man My winter quarters for them are not as large as they should be, betas only 12 feet square for from 29 to 30 fowls, but they have the run of the yard whenever the snow does not for bid. Instead of cleaning out these quarters weekly or oftener, as fre quently recommended in books, I oc casionally throw a few shovelfuls of earth tfrora boxes filled for thewell purpose) over the drippings. Their quarters are not as warm as I should provide were I to build a house ex pressly for them but I have two large windows in the south and east sides, which gives them all the benefit of the sun's warmth and makes up for considerable lack of battening. Cold weather is the trying time when most people complain that theiahens do not lay. It requires more attention to the fowls to get eggs in the winter than in s...
