Michael Mulcahy, generally known as Matilda Heron's "poor boy," bttt who is a full grown hoodlum, was arraigned in the Police Court to-day for assaulting of officer Bernard with a knife and threatening to murder him. He was held to to answer for assault. It is snowing at Sacramento, Stockton, Modesto, Pctalunia and other points in the interior. Heavy rain falling, accompanied by a cold northeasterly wind. A fire occurred this morning at the corner of Townsend and Fourth streets near the Central Pacific railroad depot, by which the dwelling house of VV. P. Grace, Bode & Co's saloon and Peterson's lestaurant were damaged to the extent of about $3,000. The loss by the owners will probably reach $3,000. Colonel Steinberg returned to-day in the pilot boat Fanny, from his voyage of observation to Navigator Islands, and other groups in the Pacific. He will leave for Washington in a few days, when the results of his work will be made known. The body of Colonel Robert Morrow, who killed himself Thanksgiving day, was taken from the embalmers to the army headquarters, this afternoon, under the escort of soldiers; it will be sent east to his friends in Tennessee to-morrow.
