The new bell-punch liquor law which was passed by the present legislature does not go into effect until the first day of October next. It provides that all dealers in spiritu- ous, vinous malt orliquors, in quan- tities less than a quart, shall pay a specific occupation tax tf two hun- dred and fifty dollars per annum, or twenty-five dollars on the sale of malt liquojs only, and shall pay an occupation tax of two cents on each drink of alcoholic or vinous liquors, or any admixture thereof, and an oc- cupation tax of one-half cent upon cach diink of malt liquor which shall be sold or drank on the prem ises of any person licensed to sell at retail said alcoholic liquors or malt liquors.
