I$ Happened in a Drug Store. " One day last winter a lady came to my drug store and asked for a brand of cough medicine that I did not have in stock," says Mr., C. R. FAIR TRADE V. FREE TRADE AND PROTECTION MONOPOLIES, [OR A WAY OUT OF OUR INDUSTRIAL TROUBLES.] [Newspaper Article] — Healesville and Yarra Glen Guardian — 5 April 1901

FAIR TRADE V. FREE TRADE AND PROTECTION MONO POLIES, [OR A WAY OUT OF OtyRINDUSTRIAL TROUBLES.] 7 .t' (BY J. L, ScIRnaEoER.) It is not at all. surprising that we have in all, or nearly all,.of the States of the Commonwealth a great many industrial troubles and much commer cial depression. I propose to show in this article that there is a possible.way out of this depression, and in the effort to make clear to my readers this pos sible way out, I shall avoid the use of all unnecessary language and argument. The way out of our troubles is easily discovered if only we are in earnest in the pursuit of it, Hitherto no attempt has been put forth, so far as I know, by our legislators to solve the problem which I now undertake to solve, and our legislators have neglected this task because they have beenl absorbed in the consideration of matters of interest only to themselves, and not really con cerned in the one true cause of the amelioration of the people. Now, in the first place, it is pla...
