WHY NOT ADVERTISE THE BLUE MOUNTAINS. [Newspaper Article] — The Blue Mountain Echo — 6 November 1909

WHY NOT ADVERTISE THE BLUE MOUNTAINS. In previous issues, of this journal we urged the importance of the immediate in auguration of a strong committee composed of influential gentlemen residing on the Mountains, whose object would be the tak ing of the necessary steps to adequately advertise the Mountains in such ways and in such places as are essential for the. wel fare of the whole district, and as up to the present no steps have been taken in such direction we aenin ure-e it vmon our neonle. Recent developments point unmistakably to a programme of indifference if not of silent opposition to our claims to be treated im partially iu the matter of advertising the Blue Mountains equally with other parts of the State by the powers who have control of this branch of the Government's busi ness, but we are not being so treated. Any appeal to headquarters is slighted, or re fused in such a manner as to convey the impression that it is intended we should be slighted. The South Coast and pl...

If. If no one ever knew of lyove Save you and I, Then we could hold each other's hands And look aud sigh ; And all the world might see us kiss And wonder— why ? If no one knew of lover's nooks And evening air, Of scented, moonlit garden-ways And roses rare, Then everyone might see us go, And wonder— where? BLACKHEATH. [Newspaper Article] — The Blue Mountain Echo — 6 November 1909

I BLACKHLATH. j [From our Own Corrksfondicnt.] The mysterious disappearance of a visi tor sta\dng at Ivanhoe Hotel is still agitating the public mind. From a letter left in his luggage addressed to the proprietor of the Hotel there is little doubt that the unfor tunate man whose name is Eliin M. Meyer contemplated suicide, but whether he left the town by one of the afternoon trains or whether his body will be eventually found somewhere in the bush remains unsolved. The last seen of him was at 2 o'clock on from the hotel ostensibly to join a party of ladies and gentlemen who intended visiting Wall's Cave. Since then no trace of him can be found. Search parties would be un availing as no one would know in which direction to look, so the question of his fate must for the -present remain an unsolved mystery. . , . : A distressing accident ..happened to a child of Mr. A. J. Tierney on Thursday last. It appears that the unfortunate child was. playing in its chair, when by some mischance t...

Correspondence. SUNDAY TRAIN FROM THE MOUNTAINS TO SYDNFY. TO THIS EDITOR. [Newspaper Article] — The Blue Mountain Echo — 6 November 1909

Correspondence. SUNDAY TRAIN FROM THE MOUNTAINS TO SYDNFY. to thk editor. Sir, — You are to be warmly commended on the stand }tou have taken in regard to the Sunday train from the Mountains to Sydne}\ Doubtless, your attitude will bring you as much abuse as. . compliment, but I venture to assure you of the support of many who have strong objections to- the action of the Railway Commissioners, as well as to the underhand way iu which the train was tabled without reference to the feelings and wishes of the Mountain people. Of course, it is known that this Sunday running is merely an effort to work an empty train back to Sydney with some profit, but we do not see that it was at all necessary to run such a train on a Sunday. There are not a few who will heartily back up the protest of the Parramatta District Methodist Synod and your own succinct observations. I am, etc., Citizen. Katoomba, Nov. 2.
