Progress Committee. A meeting of the Zeohan Progress Com mittee was held on Monday eveninir at Mul cahv-a Hotel. There wern jirese:it-Dr. Ken nedy (chairman), Messrs J. II. Hiwlett, C. H. Curtain, and J. P. Kiniry. The Secretary read a letter from the Go vernment, atatinn that the latter tvon'd erect a powder magazine at 'Strahan' if the com mittee would arrange for the maintenance tnereof. It was resolved that the letter be received, and the department informed tbat the ganrtion of [lroviding Stralian with a magazine was outside the province of the Zeehan Progress Committee.
