GERMAN SLIMNESS. [Newspaper Article] — Nambour Chronicle and North Coast Advertiser — 8 June 1923

QERHAN SUMNE88. A lot is said about the s!im dev ces of Germany to- evade reparation' iay- ments. We may be pretty sure hat she will evade as much as she can. But it requires no great ingenuity of flv. : or six pounds a week to get out of j ay ing l?n million pounds even thoigh the creditor be willing to take a inJK tion or two on account, and the -al- ance in monthly instalments over 40 years. Germany may be able to pay something 'more than she is ?wiHinir to pay. but it is absurd on the face (fit to suppose that she could tafce sach. an obligation as the Versailles 'Tre- ty' imposes upon her in her stride. There are wiseacres in plenty v ho, without giving the slightest evidence of having stiudied the elementary p in clples of national currency, arc ready to declare that the German Governn ent has deliberately d...
