Ai fcvfity early hour yesterday inorn iiigj preparations for the political con test could'bB observed oti all Sides, the supporters of each of the six candidates for the, .Balmain Electorate vicing for first jplace; as regards preparedness to solicit'and convey voters to the booths to vote, as tliey .thought, for their particu lar: man. The fever seemed also to be taken up by the opposite sex and even the scliool' children were excited over the event. All kinds of vehicles were brought' into! use on behalf of the var ious aspirants for honor at the hands of the .public, but notwithstanding the rushing hither arid thither of horses and traps we are pleased to be .able to state that there were 110 accidents of, a serious nature. One of the traps engaged for Mr. Hymn narrowly escaped a smash at the School of Arts through the horse becoming restive and nearly going over the retaining wall.
