Previous to the meeting of subscribers the committee met and approved of the draft annual report and balance sheet. At thn subsoiibera' meeting, the President t Mr .1. F. The annual meeting ot subscribers to the Kaian.iera Benevolent S»oiety was held in the Cjnuoil Chamber on Thursday evening, January 2G.h, at 8.30 p.m. The Mayor (Mr Elwin) presided, hut the attendance was small. Particularly is this the case with the homestead selectors who were fortn nate or unfortunate enough to secure selections since the drought set in.
