His presence In the city was made known at the Review office by a telephone command to retract an article that ap peared in the Review Saturday morn ing which gave an account of the suit brought by his stenographer and type Writer, Mrs. Buck, for the sum of $40, no part of which has been paid. This demand was politely refused, even in the face of a possible vigorous pros ecution at the hands of the sard Dick-ton-Ward syndicate, by its main "guy," J. Dickson. Last Saturday a batch of about twenty notices were mailed, and yes terday a number of those who receiv ed them were seen gathering up the rubbish that has been accumulating for several months. Those who do not heed the warning will be subject to arrest and fine in the justice court. Mrs. Buck Is now in this city on her own resources and is look ing for employment as the result of de ceit and a refusal of her employes to pay for her services rendered. Mrs. Buck is a quiet, unassuming lady and yesterday stated in most emphatic terms that J. Dickson was indebted to her for services as stenographer in the sum of forty dollars, and that she had left the employ of Mr. Dickson and the Dickson-Ward syndicate for ,the reason that she was unable to obtain her money. In talking of the affair to a reporter, Mrs. Buck said: "Why, I was never more surprised in my life when I was informed by Mr. Dickson that I was secretary and treasurer of the company. In a previous article the writer tried to. present a few of the most import ant requirements of the law pertaining to the necessity of a valid discover' as the basis of a location. It is now our purpose to present some of the essentials- of avalid location. When once a discovery Is made, such as the law would uphold, the prospector is entitled to quiet and un disturbed possession for a certain length of time to do the other acts necessary to a completed location. Tonight at 7:30 o'clock, those who are Interested in the formation of a football team will meet at the fire house, for the purpose of getting down to work. Manager Sowle and captain Swan will be Dresent and discuEs plans with the boys. The caDtain and manager had a con ference yesterday afternoon, and de cided that the suits for the players will be ordered at once.
