Brief and Bremy Open season for party splitting at Chicago and Baltimore. Some men are born great and then there is Senator Dixon. If during courtship, a young man tells a girl that he's unworthy of her, she doesn't believe it any more than he means it. One confirmed pessimist rises to remark that the reason we mortals so distrust each other is that we are all so much alike. If one were caught in a summer shower with no protection but a res adjudicata he would get wet. By resigning Senator Lorimer might have saved his senatorial friends from political extinction. Does Lorimer believe in signs? The rats are leaving his ship. According to the diagnosis at Chi cago, the Republican party in Flor ida is a pretty sick man. The Senate has decided to vote on the Lorimer case on July 6. What The donkey is laughing at the ele phant, but don't laugh too loud. Get your salt and butter ready the roastin' ears are coming. YELowsToNE MONITOR. ABSOLUTELY INDEPENDENT. Pfbisbed at GIeadfre, Dawsoo Couty, Monta a by E. A. MARTIN. SUBSCRIPTION PRICE, $2.00 PER YEAR 6atered as secon-elan mattaer March *. 1806, at the poatoiee at Gleadive, Most.. undw the Act of Ogr.sn of March 8. 18!. THURSDAY. JULY 4,1912. The new county of Golden Valley, which was created at the November election of 1910, and the result of which has been in the courts since that time, was finally decided by the North Da kota Supreme Court last Saturday in favor of the new county. The decis ion will give to Beach the new county seat of Golden Valley County, and Medora remains the county seat of old Billings County. The election in Beach this year just closed, constituted quite an upheaval in county politics. The so-called "farmers' " ticket seems to have won from top to bottom, with one or two I exceptions. Thus goeth the way of the world. In politics a change of officers is necessary every now and then, so that the wheels of govern ment d...

ATTEND TO THE FALLOW A Big Yield In 1913 Depends On Good Tillage In 1912 The practice of leaving the portion of the farm which is to produce next year's crop, uncropped during the present season is now very gen erally followed by dry land farmers. Since these fields yield no returns while fallow, it is important to so handle this land that the full advan tage may come with the succeeding crop. The cheif advantages which result from the fallowing are: The accum ulation of moisture, the bringing in to a usable state of a certain amount of plant food in the soil, and the op portunity to kill weeds which may be present. If the method of fallow management on any farm does not improve conditions along these three lines, the practice ought to be revis ed in some of its particulars. The first and most important ben efit to be sought is the accumulation of the season's rainfall. On the dry farm, the moisture reservoir is the lower soil layers, and this reservoir ought to be stored to furnish...
