' ; t.ilt was announced that election re xeturns would be posted on a bulletin board in front of Renfro's store on Saturday night and shortly after the polls closed on that afternoon the crowd began to gather there to await the latest news from the rural boxes and state at large. They had but a few moments to wait until couriers from the Western Union and phone messages from the various boxes over the county brought in returns. Until almost 12 o'clock the crowd waited eager for messages to be ticked off and read to them. The bulletin board Nvas put up by the enterprising mer- chant J. F.
