Wedding SCHEFFER-McFARLANE A very pretty wedding was cele brated at St. John's Church of Eng land, East Malvern, on Monday, 2nd April, the contracting parties being Amelia Betty McFarlane, only dau ghter of Mr and Mrs G. McFarlane, of High street, Yea, and Frederick Thomas Scheffer, second son of Mr and Mrs T. Scheffer, of Alexandra. The officiating clergyman was the' Rev, S. Taylor, of Alexandra, who was assisted by the Rev. Fenwick Brown, of St. John's. The bride, who was given away by. her father, made a charming pie- ture in a gown of ivory satin, with a tulle veil held in place by a coro net of orange blossom, and she car ried a bouquet of cream roses. A little downhearted but not daunt ed, the Fat fellows invited their ad versaries to partake of dinner at the Commercial Hotel. In proposing the toast of "The Thins," Ewen Caddy said that over confidence was the cause of The Fats' downfall, but he was pleased The Thins won, because The Thins had put on the show in the two previous years. COMBINED SERVICES CONVOY. VISITS ALEXANDRA. The Combined Services convoy ar rived at Alexandra at 3 p.m. on Sat urday, 28th April, and after passing -the saluting base at the Shire Hall traversed Grant, Nihil, Webster and Perkins streets, and proceeded to the showgrounds, where a grand display, _ was held at nighf. At the saluting base in front of the Shire Hall the Shire President, Cr. Davy, took the salute, supported by Captain L Hayman, O.C., Lieutenant W. B. Simms, R.A.N., and Flying SOfficer O'Toole, R.A.A.F., of the con voy; Lieut.- R. Barnewall, of 8/13 V.M.., Cr. A. Jones, Messrs. S. Rey nolds, J. Stevenson and H. Gorton, R.S.L.
