NEW, ODD, INTERESTING. [Newspaper Article] — Williamstown Advertiser — 13 February 1915

N, EW, ODD, INTERESTTING House flies attain their full growth in about four weeks. A jet-black crow recently shot in Bavaria carried on its leg a metal ring bearing the date 1 -17. Last year 222,753 people left the United K:ngdom for Canada, the United States, and Australia. The per capita consumption of cotf fee in the Unitd S:ates is steadily in creasing, crhile that of tea remains stationary. The Nile is a most regular river in its periods of flood and decline. It rises steadily from June to August; then it begins to fall, rapidly at first, and afterwards slowly, till the next June. An iron ship weighs 27 per cent. less than a wooden one of the same dimen sions, and will carry 115 tons of cargo for every 100 tons carried by the wood en ship, both loaded to the same draught of water. The Royal Palace at Madrid is one of the most beautiful structures in the rworld. It was built at a cost of £1,t03,lX(r3, and was intended to rival the famous palace at Versailles. No Title [Newspaper Article] — Williamstown Advertiser — 13 February 1915

THE public meeting on Monday night was everything that could be desired in the matter of attendance. The crowd was one of the largest that has been assembled here for many years, and as hundreds were unable to obtain admission, even the Anti-Town Hall ites, who were delivering speeches with in, must have regretted that the ball was not big enough to hold all those indignant ratepayers who were panting to hear their perfervid oratory. The ratepayers must have had misgivings on their own account. They came there confident that their valuations had been unfairly and ridiculously increased; they knew more about their own troubles than the orators could tell them ; but they at least expected some practical suggestions to relieve them from their burdens. And they went away as heavily burdened as they-came. A resolution declaring that the valua tion " is inopportune " mends nothing; it leaves an opening to the Council to say it regrets the war, drought, and the high price of commodities, a...
