SHIP NEWS. - On Monday last arrived from England the ship Caroline, Captain Taylor, with a valuable cargo of mer- chandize.- This vessel left Plymouth the 11th August, and touched at no port on her pas- sage.- Passengers, Edward Lord, Esq. of this Settlement, the owner, Miss Caroline Lord, Mr. and Mrs. Simpson, Mr. and Mrs. Margett, Mr. Talbot, Mr. Williamson, Mr. Cartwright, Mr. Eldridge, Mrs. Risely, Miss Stagg, Miss Saunderson, and Master and Miss Piper. HOBART TOWN. Sitting Magistrate.—Thomas Bell, Esq. SHIP NEWS.—On Thursday sailed for Sydney the brig Haldane, Capt, Orman; and   This day the ship Caledonia, Capt. Carns. Remain in the harbour, the ships Maria, Caroline, and Skelton; the brig Campbell Macquarie; and the schooner Victorine.   The prisoners arrived per Maria were landed on Wednesday morning at 7 o'clock, when     they were inspected by HIS HONOR the   LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR, and were allotted to their employments. The prisoners by the Maria landed in the best state of health, order, and cleanliness.   Yesterday a Coroner's Inquest was held at       the Joiner's Arms, on the body of a poor man named William Cobb, who was unfortu- nately killed by a tree falling upon him the day previously.—Verdict—Accidental Death. Knopwood,M.A< * On Wednesday last His Honor the Lieute nant Governor, attended by the Deputy Sur- veyor General and some Gentlemen of the Settlement, left town on a Tour of Inspection into the interior. ( On Monday last an Inquest^eas held at Kew Norfolk.before A.W.H. Humphrey, Esq. Coroner, on, the body of Bernard Clancey, a Crown servarit. It appeared that the deceas- ed andu man named Matthew Travies had on the afternoon of the preceding Saturday pro posed going into the Derwent River for the purpose of washing themselves, the day being very .warm.
