One Woman's Awful Revenge AN amusing incident, in which a white woman, a black woman, and a now hat figured, occurred in the wailing rcom at Union station re cently, says the St. Louis Globe Democrat. A few minutes later, a handsomely dressed white woman entered the station. Her eyes wandered in the direction of the coloured woman, and fell upon tho seat oocupied by tho band-box and its owner. Tathra Races Tiik above poor racea, promoted by Mr. J. \V. Twvford, tbo popular host of tbn Ocean Viow Hotel, came of! on the Tutlira racecourse on Saturday (Anniversary Day) in the presence of between 300 and -100 spectators. Pic me pmtiee were tho ordei o! the day, and groups wore to bo seen ail over the place, a good many putting in the time in boats on tbe river. The racing was not too interesting, same of tbs starters being hopelessly outclassed. A feature of tbe m ?otiop was tho suc cess of an aboiieinnl iockov named Pickwick, who stored two wins, anil a second. Greatest interest was centred in tbe trotting match, which was won by Mr. Qua Otton'a Hopetoun, Mr. E. G. Kelly's well-known Progress (placed 300 yards behind scratch) being second. No accidont or micbap occurred to mar the day's sport. Mr. M. Clarke acted as judge and starter, and Mr. V-. Duncan as clerk of the course.
