Canon Garland, rec tor of St. Barnabas' Cliumh, Ithaca, at the opening of a fete in aid of the Ash grove Church of England on Saturday afternoon. The fete was formally opened by Mr. W. -F. 14oyd, M.L.A., who expressed the opinion that it was both -the duty and the privilege ;of individual citizens to ; do all that was possible in fte in terests of- the community and of their fellow men and women. In moving a vote, of thanks to Mr. Lloyd, Oanon Garland said he believed there should be a direct connection be tween religion and the State. Tn say ing that, however, he was not . advocat-: ing a. CAR DESTROYED William O'Keefe, of Stewart-street, Rosalie, was driving his car along Beaudeserl-streftt, Jimboomba on Mon day afternoon, when the vehicle ran into a troe and -wras damaged. O'Keefe stayed in the car until Tuesdav when he went to Kocklea. About seven o'clock on Wednesday morning- the car was found destroyed by fire. It was insured for £250.
