On Tuesday evening the pupils at tending, Stp Scholastiea's College, Mount -Barker, played their first night of "The Heroine of the Fourth Century," a drama built round the persecution of the Christians by the Boman Empire. , The prologue "The 20th Century Listens""was! admirably "done by Miss Thora Jacobs, who as a 20th century maid desired to learn the truth of the story of Saint Phi) amena. GENERAL NEWS. THE CHILDREN'S PLAYGROUND. The children a playground lias been < made full use of since it was opened on Monday. Even at midnight on Monday,: there were two or three children making, use of the swings, and each day in the ; schoql luncheon hour the children have simply , awarnvad over the place, and the teacher has had to come up from the : school and sound his whistle before the i children return to school. At the en-' trance to the playground two bronze tab lets have..been let -into the two pillars.
