So Mission Impossible Is That Popular, Huh? by Bud Ore Staff Writer Congratulations Behrend students! Once again you have proven beyond a doubt that a great majority of you somehow managed to get into college without learning how to read. This must be the case as only a gathering of about 20-30 students showed up on Monday night's S.G.A. meeting in Perry Hall. Of this group two were from Niagara Hall, two were commuters and the rest were from Perry Hall. With the number of posters advertising the meeting the lack of attendance can only be attributed to the fact that the students were unable to read them. The only excuse that comes near to being valid was that students didn't know what the S.G.A. was doing. What could be a better way to find out other than reading about it in the newspaper or by hearing what's going on from second hand sources, than going to the meeting? Another reason is that students had exams. This was the best reason, but when I walk around the RUB during...

Station Restaurant And Area People Lend Props Two weeks from tonight the Behrend Players' production of the Drunkard will open its five performance run in the Studio. The cast and crews are now hard at work adding the final rehearsal detailing to the show. The prop crew has been finding and collecting many actual period props which will add an authentic air to the show. Bob Baran has contacted many area families and they have been most helpfui in locating some of the difficult props needed for the show. These families include the Harold Williams family, the WDliam Flecken family, the James Franz family and Mr. Michael Baran. They have provided the company with such props as antique jewelry, a keg ( wooden and empty ) , various pots and pans and even a spittoon. Also helping out with the prop problem is the Station Restaurant. They have been very helpful in providing some of the larger items needed for the show. They are loaning the company chairs, sofas, various lamps, and o...

Letters to Editor Collegian Offers Explanation Note from the Collegian Staff: We recently received the following letter in our mailbox from a student at Behrend. After reading the letter, the staff became very disturbed at a few misinterpretations on the student's behalf. The editor of the paper personally called the author of the letter and explained how a few of the facts in her letter were twisted. She was very helpful and we straightened out the misinterpretations. Below is the letter from Jeannette Hirsch in complete original form. The Collegian staff added their own response at the end of her letter. Dear Editor: I would like to sound applause for a few of you who have obviously been rather active in recent weeks. We are all familiar with the favorite trend in conversations at Behrend: complaints. I am an excellent complainer; I have complained about the food, about the lack of menus, about the parking and stop sign situation and so on, but one of my favorite gripes wa...

¦¦¦_QBSESflHiH by Jeff Matson Executive Editor This was undoubtedly the most difficult piece I have eve,r had to write. As most people know, Mom Tuttle, hostess at Perry Dorm for six years, died last week. I dislike trite and overly sentimental eulogizing and believe that few words are best. After working for a tew days, I finally came up with these ten words : forMomTuttlesheleaves us with warm memories we lose her reluctantly.

Record Slips To 5-4 Cubs Exhibit GRRR The score stood 17-9 with Behrend's Cubs behind. What the score doesn't reflect is the ferocity and spirit that Cub grapplers threw against a superior Waynesburg College. The Waynesburg coach spent many anxious, yelling, apprehensive moments near the mat, cajoling and encouraging his matmento the slim victories they won. Things started out well for the Cubs as Alir Carter conquered Waynesburg's Jim Miranda 9-3 in the 118 lb. division. The first period had each contestant testing each other out. Carter was the first to score on a takedown and the score at the end of the first period was 2-0 in favor of Carter. In the second period, Carter's dominance slowly surfaced as he took a 4-1 lead. The third period saw Carter's preponderant strength and balance secure a 9-3 victory. A tight battle took place at 126 lbs. between Behrend' s Greg Wozniak and Waynesbiarg's Tom Walter. At the end of two periods, Wozniak held a slight 1-0 edge. Super...

Walsh Gets Higher Out Rebounds Cubs by Jim Concelman Sports Editor "Ah-GMY "Ah-Huh," I commented to myself after a quick glance at the program I had just stolen from the girl in front of me"They don't have anyone over 6'3'\ We might even win tonight." I don't know why I became so naive all of a sudden perhaps the thought of the post-game party clouded my mind. Maybe it was because I was sitting behind the cheerleaders, I don't really know. I do know that last Saturday the Walsh College Cavaliers, sans big guy, defeated the Cubs 75-67. I also know that I liked Walsh's style-they had class. Actually, Walsh's style of play was very simple. They were very quick and they could jump very high. Let me re-phrase that: They could jump very high and they were very quick. There is no simpler way to put it. But old Doc Sweeting did his homework rather well. He put the Cubs into a 1-3-1 defense that was very impressive. He had speed up front in Jack Nill, Jack Weber or Frank Moorhead, he...

Collegian Offers Mini-Research President Nixon and Watergate Note: This is the third of a series of articles written by Dr. Salvador A. Parco, assistant professor of sociology, interpreting for Behrend Collegian readers results of mini-research projects conducted primarily by students in connection with a methodology of sociology course he taught last fall term. President Nixon. The steadily declining""" The finefaigs of this survey popularity of President Richard M. Nixon in the Gallup and Harris polls after the public became more aware of the facts concerning the Watergate scandal prompted Michael J. Woods ( 3rd term, Psychology), 4268 West 32nd street, Erie, Pa. to ask two hundred (200 ) Erie residents about their attitudes toward the President. More specifically, Mike hypothesized thai certain groups of people had been alienated by the Watergate scandal while others still supported Mr. Nixon. He expected that older males (over 35 years old) with no college education wo...
