Mr. Hess was ousted by a lare marjoritv. Moral: Don't write love letters in more than two languages. The petition follows: RECALL PETITION To the Clerk of the Board cf Supervisors, of Yuma County, State of Arizona. ST. JOHNS HERALD- f and Apache News Vol, 29. ST. JOHNS, APACHE GO.. ARIZONA, AVGVST 2It 19t3 No. 51 GOODS NEW TO TAX-PAYERS. . The Herald-News prophesied some weeks ago that the i-tate and county i 'Tax rate for 1913 ''would be from 1.95 to 2.05. It was thought by many however that we were over optimistic.' , There will be. at the close of this 'year a material deficit, and this; of course Will have to be made up. After figuring on the budget as advertised, and aUo miking a n allowance that the Board of Supervisors believe -will be sufficient to cover all de ficits, it appears thata rate of 1-90 will be ampply sufficient for all purposes. , Of this, .495 is the rate fixed by the State, thus leaving the rate ing sinking fund of Road bonds, 1.405. That isn't so bad, after all, is it., considering that the . values in many cases have been made by the State Tax Commis sion and that whether these values were right or wrong, they had to stand. r ATTENTION, PLEASEr In view of the fact that the en tire offiice force of the Herald News will soon be in need of suit able wearing: apparel for the cool weather coming on, and still la ter on "will find it necessary to buy clothing, etc.. for the somewhat chilly winter evenings that are sure to follow along after the pleasant autumn days are spent - and gone, we are giving due no tice to all who have such articles iu stock as would likely "fiill the bill," to submit samples, make known their prices and "do their best"m terms to us, either by mail or come and invite us into their stores to "look around" a little, and see what can be done. It is no more than right that we should do this, we believe, in view of the fact that considerable advertising, printing job work, etcn done in our office is secured , in the above manner; and that it is a help to our busiuess men in gettieg at this trade of ours to let fchem know of our wants and to assure them that if we buy of any of them we ha...
