District Mems. TRANGLE. [Newspaper Article] — Narromine News and Trangie Advocate — 6 April 1900

District Mems. From our C»m spondents. TRA.NGIJ. We had a few points of rain on the 1st of the month, but it did not last long. A match was made between Mr Bradley *6 brown hur^e and Mr Hull's bay mare, one quarter of a tniie with 9 stone up. Mr Bradley's horse won pulling up by about five lengths. The contractors for Mr I, Garlick's new hotel are j-u-hing it aliea), as they have the first floor up. The store recently occupied bv Mr R. McDonald in now unoccupied, as that gentleman has departed to ' fresh fit-Ids and pastures new.' I think it a pity for the town to lose such an en terprising towusman. I don't think any competitors from Trangie are appearing at the Odd frllrws' Sports in Narromine on Easter Monday. There is some talk of another butchery starting iu Trangie, and it is a thing 'hat isiiadly wanted. Farmers all rou d the town have commenced operations and nearly everywhere you look you see the red tilled soil as it is turned up by the plough. I think if we have a good se...

Rifle Club TO THE EDITOR. [Newspaper Article] — Narromine News and Trangie Advocate — 6 April 1900

Eifle Club To The Editob. Dear Sir, — A few weeks ago at a public meeting held at Robinson's Hotel, Narromine, it was decided to form a local corps of. Australian Mounted Rifles. Though no advance Iibb been made in the matter the effort mn&t not be regarded as a spasm, but is blocked by tbe inability of the Gov* ernmint to provide or afford accoutre ments to all the men williug to wear a uniform and undertake the duties of citizen soldiers. After carefully weighing the matter I am of opinion that we should limit our ambitions to the forming of a Riflo Club. Recent experience has shown the value of rifle shooting in modern warfare, and I could point out , many instances in the pr- aoiit war where the shooting on our side has j been atrociously bad. Bo.r cannon , have been rescued under our troops' | nuscp, whereas the reverse has occurred where oar cannon have come iuto close quarters with As enemy, ..ot that our men had fal:cn back from the tradiiiinal standard of British br...

DANDALOO. [Newspaper Article] — Narromine News and Trangie Advocate — 6 April 1900

DANDALOO. Well, the drought seems to have broken at last, and there are prospects of a good time once again. I can rt-ally assure yon that the laet rains have been a great benefit to the coun try about here, and as the 'ploughing season is in full swing it has put the ground in perfect working order. There is any amount of good grass, both in the paddockB aud on the stock rentes. A few words as regards the working of the Spalding-Robbins Rotary Disc Plough. I have taken particular notice of two of them working, and I find tbat thay are far nnperior to any other plough, and as for their work it is something splendid whether the ground be hard or not. Mr Robinson of ' May field,' has one working at his placo at present, aud I am sure he is more than pleased with tbe work it is doing.

COLONIAL WINES To those who take a little wine foi their stomach's sake we confidently recommend Caldwell'a of Lake Albert Vineyard, Bear Wagga Wagga. In addition to being of the highest quality these ?wines have the recommendation that they are made in Australia, hence their claim upon Australian patronage is undeniable. MrM.F. Such brand* as Caldwell's Muscat, Port, Tokay, Sherry and Hock are put on the market here with a repntatien that should en sure a big sale.
