It is a bi, e~mpliment to the MArL to know ,hat items pub lished i it? will probably-inter= fere "with the winning of the war, but such appareuily is the fact. Mr Giles gave some very informative figures, but w",I must not tell them out in our columns, although all who were presn t beard, and probab!y have repeated what they heard to friends.. We are not allowed to.

Local and General. At the last meeting of Walpeup shire council, Constable. Rainey reported an unhealthy drain at the corner of M'Kenzie and Reid streets, Murrayville, which was caused by slops drained from the hotel, but owing to the lack of fall, it could not get away. There are not a great many stars of the game left--nost of them are playing the bigger game over yonder, and that fact shoul!d about equalise things. What about it ? At Ouyen police court on Wed nesday, Mr Elligelt, P.M., dealt wi;th a case of language on the train at Tempy station in Decem ber last. Defendant was W. H. Ward, of the centre named. Evi dence was given by two railway employes, Constable Davie, and a resident of Tempy. Defendant, who did not appear, was repre s?ented by M-r Don. The explana jion ...
