GENERAL REMARKS. [Newspaper Article] — Sunday Times — 7 April 1895

GENERAL REMARKS. The past week has beeu quiet so far as in vestment stocks are concerned, but if a smaller amount of busiuosB has been done prices have beou well maintained. We note an improvement iu the value of tne shares of the A.J.S. Bank and of the City Bank, and New South Wales Bank stock is very firm at 30 to 30i. Iu gold-mining very little has beeu done. The Sydney transactions have, for the most part, beeu contined to silver stooks, and advances in Block 10, Central, South, Junc tion, &c., have taken place. from both Messrs. T. J. Thompson and Son's and from Mr. J. B. North's ciroulars, which have reached us this week, it iB evident that the volume of business transacted on the investment side of the Sydney Stock Exchange waa less during March thau during February. But both these firms report a ' continued im provement in tone,' and poiut to the fact that many low-priced stooks, for long neg lected, are now 'again coining iuto pro minence.' Messrs. T. J. Thompson ad...
