About two years ago an effort was made by the people of this district, as well as a large number of settlers on Canideu Havon, to have the electorate of the Hastings and Man ning divided. Petitions to this end were got up and signed by about 700 electors, and duly presented to Parliament through our members, but the latter seemed to be opposed to the movement, and the press on tlia Man ning did not look with favour upon the pro posed division.
