The :1conoert hall had been attractively arranged with bowls of antlrrhtnlums, 'weet peas, aquileglae and heuchera. During the afternoon musical items were rendered by Sister Emanuel S(Miss Helen King), Mrs A. Gaster *tadt, Mieses Lil Crimmlns, Bess Gaffney, and Carrie Moylan, and were greatly enjoyed. The presentation of a donation towards the Scholarship - Fund was made to Mother Vicar by Father O'Rellly. A tanty tea was Sserved by the Nuns, and was greatly 'enjoyed. THE GARDEN Frost dangers should now be over, and seed 'of Marrows, Pumpkins, -Melons, Cucumbers, and all curcubi tous plants may safely be sown r. the open. Pumpkins, in view of their value as vegetables and their keeping qualities - right into the winter months - warrant even more extensive cultivation than is granted them by the home gardener.' Iron bark, Turk's Cap, Queensland Blue and Triamble are all varieties well worth growing, and they only re quire ordinary attention. In sowing out of doors a hole about 18 inches deep should be made and filled up with well rotted manure which should be firmly tramped in. On top of this a layer of good soil to the depth of say 6 inches should be placed, then sow 3 or 4 seeds in each hole. Seeds should germinate with surprising rapidity and subsequent growth should be rapid. When fit to handle the seedlings should be thinned out to two - the strongest.
