E -ft! am if! ft J f ft The Citizen. SATUJWAY. OCTOBER 2Ts ltw'J. The Globe District Boom. At no time since the organization of the District lias Globe been in a better condition than at the present time. Her possibilities have never Fcemcd so great and capitalists have never been as willing to invest and do Tclop as thoy arc now. "When the dis trict was first discovered the rich sur face ores gave it considerable- promi nence for a time, but it fell into the wrong hands, several feeble attempts at milling failed. The public faith was shaken. The great discoveries in Pima count' drew the attention of cap italists in this direction and Globe was left to struggle in comparative quiet. During the last year the rush has been to Tombstone, recently Patagonia has lken addod and nothing but actual merit could attract in other directions. That Globe possesses this merit is evi dent from the recent bullion shipments from that district as well as the devel opment and sale of mines. A consider...

About one 3'ear ago Superintendent Richard Gird was in San Francisco, personally overseeing and directing the manufacture of a saw-mill and a quartz mill. Roads Lad to be graded to the timber in Iluachuca ilouutains . and to the mines of the company from the mill-site on the San Pedro. The mines had been developed just enough to warrant the construction of these roads and mills. About June 1st of this 3'ear the quartz mill was com ploled and put to work, and no com- plimcnt is intended in restating the Jacts that no other mill has ever been more perfectly built nor run more tmootlilj and uninterruptedly than it. It is almost automatic. But three men are required to operate it. Ma chiuery propelled by water power docs the balance. About two weeks since it shut down to make the necessary changes for wet instead of dry crush. fng. and either has started up ...

The Oitizek. SATURDAY. 2X0V EMBER 8. 1S7H. General Grant Since the arrival of General Grant in Lis native land, the presa of the country has been devoted to dis cushions regarding his reception on the Pacific coast, coupled with various prognostications as to his protmhk course of action. No man has so com pletely filled the public eye. The numerous comments upon his remark able tour have been as varied in char. acter, as they have been peculiar and ñique in the conclusions set forth at to his motives, opinions and future de signs. Partisan malice pursued him with relentless zeal during the period of his official career. Ambitious pro jects were attributed to him. Ilis patriotism, and good faith, were made the themes of public and private dis cussion by every blatant demagogue, whose inflated opinion of his own mer its was held in abeyance by the solid qualities, and modest beaiingof the presidential magnate.
