The meagre appearance of our columns to-day, in the way of reading matter, requires a -word of explanation- We suppose that no office in the United States has had a better force of journeymen than this had. They have worked hard for a long time; and 'when they yesterday notified us that thoy were determined to have a holiday, we did not complain. Two of the publishers being prac tical printers, they have, with the assistance of the clerk in the counting room, got out thb morning's paper. One of us had, besides, the weekly form to make up, and tho theatre posters and small bills to print. We regret to see in it so little to encourage the hope that the road will be completed within any definite period. From the Louisville Journal. LOUISVILLE AND NASHVILLE RAILROAD. The president and directors of the Louisville and Nashville Railroad Company, believing that the attention of the citizens of Louisville is anxious ly directed to the subject of a connection by railroad between the cities of Louisville, Nashville, and Memphis, and that a publication from them con cerning the same might be satisfactory to the pub lic and tend to advance the interest of the road which they have in charge, respectfully submit the following address: The board have intended to proceed immediately to construct that part of the road extending from this city toward New Haven and Elizabethtown, bat the iron purchased for that purpose has not arrived here on account...
