MARCH3.1977 Truck Mishap Closes 71 PLUM — The scene was that of a "B grade" sci-fi plot as newsmen, firemen, and police stood behind an imaginary barrier and tensely kept vigil over an overturned trailer that has spilled dangerous chemicals in the middle of the now- Force Base. Unfortunately the incident was not a movie but reality. It was a real trailer spilling real chemicals in the very- real town of Plum, Texas, George Henry of Humble, was overcome by fumes and had to be pulled out by DPS officer Sam Trammell. Hostesses Martha Edney, Ethel Loper, and Irene Cox welcomed guests with coffee and crullers. Among the correspon- dence was the announce- ment of the coming District V of Texas Garden Club's annual meeting on March 16 in Austin. At this time, two members of the garden club will be installed. Agnes Crawford will be Zone III Director and Lucille Hyson will be zone 111 secretary. Registration for the meeting will be from 9 to 9:45 a.m. and the fee. which included lunch, will be $6. Members are asked to get in touch with president Joyce Klutts so car pools may be formed.
