Council praises bond committee efforts Transportation a priority continued from page IA familiar with both of these months and would still be aware and vote.' Councilman Jim Burnett said although the timing is very tight, his personal preference is to hold the bond election in November so that it can receive the undivided attention of the citizens as a November election removes the bond issue from council elections in May, Timm said in his opinion there are pros and cons for both facility options being explored. "For shared facilities is the pos- sibility of a reduction in total cost because you're not paying for two or more buildings and the con is that you may have very limited options for future expansion of a shared facility," he said. "The campus style facility will be more complementary to the sur- rounding neighborhood structures, however available land needed for all facilities may be an issue." Burnett said the best part of the entire process was the involvement of citizens...

While that may have deadened the romanticism, it didn't reduce the passion I felt when l watched a contest. Today, I'm lucky enough to earn a living covering sports, and as part of that, I've had the privilege of watching, for free, the action under Friday night's lights in stadiums throughout North Texas. Of course, some of that has occurred under Thursday night's glow or a Saturday afternoon sun. That has not diminished the enjoyment I've had viewing local prep stars moving up and down, and side to side, along the 100 yards of turf or grass inside the many arenas in the Lone Star State. While the college game, and especially pro football, have become more business-like, they still hold my attention, especially when the season ...

Haynes Wylie's performance at this year's state 7-on-7 tournament may have drawn mixed reviews, but the experience gained by competing at this level will likely show up in the fall. The Pirates had a disappointing first day as they dropped two of three games to fall out of the cham- pionship bracket, but they came back on day two with a more focused and dynamic effort, win- ning their first two games before falling in game three to a very ath- letic West Orange Stark team.
