Since 1926 the Department of Agriculture has been carrying out experiments with various phases of pasture improvement in several portions of the Lockhart to Holbrook and Jingellic districts in such P places as Milbrulong, Munya'bla, Bidgeemia, Ring ' wood, Corowa, Walbundrie, Walla Walla, Burrum buttock, Jindera, Albury, Gerogery, Holbrook, Osborne Creek, Jingellic, Balldale and Brocklesby. This covers almost every centre in the district. 1^ It is now a reasonable time to quote a few notes about - the information gained from these experiments, as farmers and graziers will be commencing to carry out some work in this connection. The head offices .of Dr. Barnardo 's Homes, in the- East End of London, according to advice received, have . been bombed five times, necessitating the adjacent receiving houses being turned into .temporary officcs. Eight 'of the branch homes have also suffered during : v the blitzkrieg. Included in these is the well-known girls' village home in Essex, which has undergone several attacks. In one )f them/45 incendiary bombs were dropped, and: two ^cottages, the hos pitjil, and the massage room .were hit. In another, the (beautiful school and - a third; cottage were burnt down. The children, however, have not suffered, thanks to the fact ? that they were evacuated, from danger zones at tho beginning of the war.
