MARSDENS. (From our Correspondent.) Monday, 2.1st July, was a great clay in Mars dens. It was the occ.ision of tho opening of the first Court of Petty Sessions in that placo. Mr. S. 'Robins-. n, P.M., presided, and was assisted by Messrs. F. A. Gibson, F.' F. Gibson, J. B. Dnikin, on Tl. Halls, Js.P. The first caso brought beforo tho Court was ono of detinue ot a niaro, Rickotson v Carter, the latter gentlemen being presently in posses sion of said lnaro. It appeared in ovidonco that the mare in question -.wns driven with another hor.«e by Ricketson's nephew, and loft by him in Mr. Carter's paddock. -Mr. Carter was given to understand that those horses belonged to ono Scott, who was at that timo in his (Mr. Carter's) employ, and since deceased. Grace, the cricketer, at Lord's Ground, on Monday. The Zulus have met with a terrible, and it is hoped, a final hlow. The British, led by Lord Chelmsford, attacked King Cetowayo, who was loading ~w,vuV »Hiu»ja. jy. atjvuro oiituu ousueci, in which tho British won a splendid victory. The slaughter was awful. Tho British were success ful at every point. Later. Further particulars of the groat British vic tory has been received, stating' that in conse quence of Cetewayo's not complying with the demands of the British, Lord Cholmsford advanced with his whole force towards Ulundi, on the 4th July. The troops were attacked on their inarch by 20,000 Zulus,~and the British, numbering 5000, received the enemy in a hollow square. Local News.     POLICE COURT. FRIDAY. Before G. G. Brodie, Esq., J..P. Mena Rentz. — Sheep-stealing.   Mr. Crommelin appeared for the prosecution. Sergeant Maloney, after proving the arrest, said he went to the residence of Mr. Amor, on Monday, the 21st instant, who showed him a number of sheepskins, amongst which he pointed out four which were claimed by Mr. Tout, as being the property of Messrs. Allen and Watson, and which he produced ; he took possession of the skins, and obtained a search warrant, which he executed on the 22nd, pri-   soner, her husband, children, George Tout, and constable Robertson, were present ; he asked prisoner's husband if he had sold any sheep- sheepskins ; he replied no, he had never sold any in his life, and that he had been away for three weeks, pruning vines; prisoner said, "yes, he has been away, and knows nothing about it ;" she further said that she had sold some skins on Saturday to Mr. Amor, th...
