INFLUx OF CRIMIINALS' STATUTE.. , Vhat are we going to dIwith' Sqlli. van ? The wretched outcast must leave us,. but how are we to get -him .away·1 A hint has been thrown out by the daily press, that perhaps the easiest method would.be-.to involve him in' thel-disap-' pearanco and Hnpposed murder of men, many years agii, in'the district where he then owned a disreputable grog shanty.. FEMALE BADGERS. [Newspaper Article] — North Melbourne Advertiser — 24 December 1874

FEMALE BADGrERS.. The Female UBadger perfectly'iduderstands the whole art of begging, and less-practised cadgers would do well to take a few lessons Iron her. She is one of the sweet, disin txeested beings who spend their whole lives in labouring on behalf of others, and who, t is very certain, will make you pay very heavily it you are often brought in contact vith them. With i depth of irony, it would he impossible to equal, she is in the habit of styling herself your friend, and, proceeding upon this assumption, to innocently imagine that she is at perfect liberty to invade your house as much as she pleases, and to lay seige to your purse as often as it accords 3 with her inclinations to do so. You cannot tell her to go about her business, because she is your friend; neither may you ques. ion her motives, for she is hot labouring on behalf of sulferinghumanity? So you must, perforce, bear the tortures shajiaflicts with Las good a grace as possible. You are som. pelled to listen pa...
