REVIEW Railways at Work We have received a copy from the Cominisioner for Railways, of a 48 page booklet illustrating .and des cribing interesting activities of the N.S.W. Government Railways. The department controls the" larg est industrial undert'aking in the Commonwealth. A total of £155 Ihillion has been invested in its as sets, which include 6,000 route miles of railway track, 700 stations and de pots for the receipt and despatch of traffic, 1150 locombtives, 3000 passen ger carriages, 26000 freight vehicles, four electric power stations, and a number of large workshops for the construction and maintenance of plant and equipment. Approximate ly 56,000 men and women are em ployed by this huge enterprise. As a consequence, there is. no shortage of interesting. aspects of .the railways at work.
