SPECIAL TELiEGRAMSI LoDnoN, March 3. The preliminary treaty of peace was signed an February 26. The terms of peace are the cession of a fifth part of Lorraine, including Metz and Thionville, and the whole province of Alsace, excepting Belfort; The war indemnity to be paid is two hundred millions sterling, 40 millions being payable this year, and the remainder within three years, with interest. Meanwhile the German troops are to occupy Champagne and several fortresses. M Thiers, morally supported by England,. strenuously resisted the cession of-Metz At the entry of the German troops into Paris the populace was greatly excited, and. military precautions had to be taken to pre vent a collision. A pi nice to the children attending the Broadford Common School, was given on Thursday last, on the flat between the Sunday Creek Hotel and the Botanic Gar dens.. SCa-num v Cunurr.-This action was brought in the Court of Common Pless.-The plaintiff in this cage, George Lew:q Ourrie, sued Mary Margaret Davison Currie.--Mr Seymour, for the plaintiff, said that ip'tbie case the ordinary posit'one of the parties was reversed, for the .gentleman wrs the plaintiff, and thealedy was tie' defendant (a laugh). The plaintiff sas about 27 years of age, and be was the eldest'son of a farmer in Wales, who farmed from 300 to 400 acres of lane. The plaintifi and defen. dent were cousins, and the plaintiff's father and mother, and the plaintiff's aunt, had sanctioned the marriage. The young lady was possessed of personal attractions, and beyond this she had a fortune in her own right, a dover of £6,000 and upwares. AT2TIlPTED OUTRAGE BY AN 4ABORIGIINAL. On Friday, 31st March, a notorious native named 1loolksmooruntheo, alias Ram Billy, alias Whip 1Billy, b.longing to the Port Augusta district, South Australia, entered a shepherd's hut on the Warra kimbo run, its onlyt,occupant being the wife of a shepherd Bo asked for a drink, obtained one, and sat down. From his manner the woman became someheat alarmed, and went outside. The native followed, and ettecked her several times, assaulting her with criminal intent. However, the woman being young rird strong, succeeded in b?filing this monster and making her escape, and started off for the head station, three miles distant, which she had almost reached when she was discovered by her husband prostrate on the sand near the roadside, thoroughly exhausted and faint with fear ard running.
