COLONEL BOOKER DISMISSED FOR COWARDICE--COLONEL O'NEILL PROM[OT D FOR GALLANT CON DUCT. A special despatch from Hami'ton, C.W., says :-Colonel Booker has been relieved from command for his conduct in the battle of Limestone Ridge. He had offered his resignation, but it was rot acted upon. We learn from the New York papers that on the 1Sth June a delegation- of coloured men offered their services to fight for Irish liberty in the Fenian army. The chairman of the delegates stated that a- detaehwcent was ready to proceed to Canada, under General Sweeney, at any time, and that, in fighting for Celtic independence, they would be able to avenge the outrages their people recently suffered from the British authori-. ties in Jamaica. Roberts ' thanked them cordially for their kind offer, remarking that he would probably have need of their services in a very short time. LOCAL INTELLIGENCE. 0 ACCIDENT,-A man named James Murray p was admitted to the Hospital on Friday last, i suffering from a fracture of the left arm, and v other very severe injuries to both legs and p various parts of the body. He was employed I at Mr. Gray's farm, about five miles from Kilmore, and was engaged at the time when I the injuries were received, in breaking in a a young horse. Being unable to hold the ani- t mal, he took a turn with a rope around a d stump, but in doing so his arm became en, e tangled, and the horse galloping in a circle, I twined the rope around him, and so, crushed c him in the folds against the stump. MISCEfLANEOUS.. A gross case of indecent assault; investi, gated at the Talbot Police Court, on Wed nesday, is thus noticed by the Leader- "-The offender is a uman named. John Free stoae, who is about forty years of. age, and. the prosecuttix is his own daughter, a child of six years old. From information received by Constable P.irkinson, he. accomipanied Senior-Constable M'Farland to Kangaroo Flat, where, after making inquiries, they went to prisoner's tent. MIISCELLANEOUS. A senmi-oilici:l leading article appears in " La Hrauc," whi'h will be read with- in terest all over Europe. It bears the tiice of " France before the War," and contains an explanation of what may be sup)posed to be the policy of the Government so far as it can be made public. " War" it says, " will have this result, namely, the destruction of the ' status quo,' and the creation of a new order of things. If Europe crumbles away before our eyes, it is our imperative duty to see that it should not reconstitute itself without our sanction, and indeed in oppo sition to us."
