A TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE. By David ;G. Faik. Atmott op 'the austbaijans ;' 'bosh AND OAMP,'*&C.', &0. CHAPTER!. The suburb of Albert Park is generally regarded by Melbourne folks as rather a picturesque one than otherwise, though at the time of the opening of our Btory — somewhere about the end of September — it certainly wore its more uninviting as pect. For September winds were blow ing chill, and September rains were com ing down with dreadful violence. Thero ' was a general feeling of dampness in the air : and a blusterous and aggressive kind of tumult going on that mado tho wide streets look all the more forlorn, by rea son of its driving people into tho sholtor of tho liousos. This was tho general characteristic of that particular Septcinber.and on the day on which our story opens it was more marked than over. But though tho wind and rain and cold and damp wore rampart outuido, insido tho houses it was snug enough, and quite attractivo. In one es pecially ; for th...

AT LORNE. [Newspaper Article] — Riverina Recorder — 21 December 1887

AX LOliNJE. I Bit on a golden strand Thnt boarders a sapphire sea, And soft winds come and go And whisper a talk to me j A tale of a time now long since post, A tale of a time too bright to last, A tale of a time now overcast As shadows veil the sea. The fair moon g 17.es down On a world ns fair below, And the sobbing tido steals on In its ceaseless ebb and flow, But clouds will cover the pale-faced moon As clo«d8 will cover the sun at noon, And the spring-tide of youth be veil'd too soon As shadows veil the sea.

27te Stupid Donhcij. HIS SOUL IS ON THE RACK. 'Come, you've had enough, you preedy varmint,' said the costerunm^er to the donkey, a9 he carried away the hay from the manger. ' Why, I haven't tasted vet, master,' re monstrated the poor ass. 'Well, then, that'a your fault, not mine. If vou stand drcaminn- when vou niiL'ht to be eating, you must take the coasekens, Neddy.'
