Naughty, Naughty Girl— [Newspaper Article] — The Capitolist — 12 October 1972

Naughty, Naughty Girl— Washington, D.C. (CPS) - Women students of the Georgetown Law School have denounced Acting Associate Dean William Greenhalgh for "demonstrating a blatantly prejudiced attitude toward women" in his speech before the opening session of a Local Government Law class. Allegations were prompted by Greenhalgh's announcement that Sarah Carey, originally scheduled to teach the class, would be absent due to an illness contracted during a recent business trip to the Soviet Union. Angered by the inconvenience of Carey's illness, Greenhalgh commented, "Let this be a lesson to you girls or women or whatever you want to call yourselves, as to professional responsibility." A woman in the audience replied, "I don't think it applies to a woman any more than to anyone else in the class as a lesson in professional responsibility." "Be that as it may, Greenhalgh answered, "I'm in charge of hiring and firing and I'm going to keep this in mind. This is the second time that a...

Levy Refused Sena te Sea t Student Court Decision Capitol s Student Court is back in session. The Court handled its first case of the new year last week, the case involving last spring's SGA election. Steven C. Following will be a detailed account of the events surrounding the situation. SGA Spring Elections were scheduled for Thursday. May 18, 1972. SGA officers and senior senators for 1972-73 were elected at that time. Levy was a candidate for senator from the social science program. His name appeared on the ballot and he received 55 votes, the second highest total from the curriculum, which, at that time, entitled him to an ...

Business Students-Take Note! By Michael Collins This year business students at Capitol Campus will find some new changes and many opportunities open to them. First in extracurricular activities there is the Business Club. The Business Club, with it's new name Beta Chi is growing and looking for more new members. Beta Chi's membership is presently 44 students (only two women) out of a total of 430 business students. Test Dates for Teacher Examinations PRINCETON, NEW JERSEY. College seniors preparing to teach school may take the National Teacher Examinations on any of the four different test dates specified by Educational Testing Service, a nonprofit, educational organization which prepares and administers this testing program. New dates for the testing of prospective teachers are: November 11, 1972, and January 27, April 7, and July 21, 1973. The tests will be.given at neatly 500 locations throughout the United States, ETS said. Results of the National Teacher Examinations are used by many large school districts as one of several factors in the selection of new teachers and by several states for certification of licensing of teachers. Some colleges also require all seniors preparing to teach to take the examinations. The school systems and state departments of education which use the examination results are listed in an NTE leaflet entitled SCORE USERS which may be obtained by writing t...

Penn State Ekes Out Win Over Iowa [Newspaper Article] — The Capitolist — 12 October 1972

Penn State Ekes Out Win Over Iowa It nearly happened. Last Saturday, the Penn State Nittany Lions almost lost their first football game at home in close to two years. Only a desparation touchdown drive salvaged a 14 to 10 win over the Hawkeyes from the University of Iowa. Penn State came from behind in the final three minutes and scored the winning touchdown with but 36 seconds remaining. The face saving points came when State quarterback John Hufnagel, on a third-and-eight situation at the Iowa 10 yard line, scrambled out of the pocket and tossed to tight end Dan Natale who was open in the corner of the end zone. The game marked the third straight week in which the outcome of the game was not determined until the final seconds. The Lions have been lucky to gain two victories in these frustrating, but exciting contests. For three Saturdays, Penn State has floundered, failing to score in the first half and demonstrating an acute lack of offensive power. State had the ball for ...
