OVEUR BOSTON ISTTER. THE LADY OF LYONS SKELETOGIZED-BABES IN THE WOOD-VISITORS AT THE HOME. Special Correspondence .ew North-West. The most notable event of the week is the benefit given to H. A. M'Glenen, or " lHarry " Glenen as he is called, the de servedly popular business agent of the Bos ton Theatre. It occurred on Tuesday after noon, May 22, and lasted from 2 o'clock t< nearly 6 o'clock. There was a grand rush at the doors, and the ushers had to work lively to find seats. A large rumber ol gentlemen stood at the back of the seats and down the aisles as far as the balcony covered them. The play was BULWER'S LADY OF LYONS, And John McCullough and Miss Mary An derson came from New York for this spec ial occasion. It is long since McCullough has played Claude Melnotte,he having been engaged on high tradegy work, and wheth er he was sleepy, or tired, or sick, or whether he did not think there was much in the character, the first few scenes were walked through and declaimed rathe...

Her gay, vivacious manner and ready command of language proclaim what her slight accent would bet ray, a French origin. " What is the Post going to say about nme ?" she asked, looking up saucily out of the corners of her eyes. "1 know you are regular bull-dozers, but still you are good Democrats and speak your mind. I hate th se indlependent papers, neither one thing nor the other. Down South, you know,' she continued, laughing merrily, "you have to belong to one party or the other, and decertion from the party means ostra cisi. X STERIOUS METAL. AUSTRIAN ART IN STEEL BRONZE GUNS. London News. 6th. It is well known that the whole of the Austrian field artillery is now armed with the new steel bronze breech loader of Gen eral Von Uchatius. The fact that nearly two million pounds sterling have been spent from first to last by the Anstro Hungarian Government upon the weapon is proof enough of the confidence felt in high quar ters as to its efficiency; and we have the testimony of many experienced officers that for accuracy and endurance the gun rivals the much more costly steel cannon of Herr Krpp. Se this as it may, l; is re ported that the Austrian Government is now about to set to work on the manufac ture of heavy guns from the same inexpen sive material, and to produce ship and siege guns from tempered bronze. Two 6-inch experimental weapons which fired several hundred rounds are reported to be still in serviceable condition, and at short ranges may be considered army piercing guns. A shot at 50 or 60 yard...
