James Dickson, in an eloquent and patriotic speech, delivered at tbe Union rncetiug in Ilnrlford, dwelt upon the ability of the country to sustain the expense of the war, and upon tbe security which the national loan offered a an investment. On this point be said : Look at England. You say our expenses are largo, and so they are. Some estimate them at one million of dollars a day.
