Deo Antonio Fles, who has just been elected President of the Republie of Ecuador, is the asa qf General Juan Jose Flores, founder of the Republic of Ecuador and its irt Presdent. Don Antonio has been Mnlhter to Peru, Chill, the United States, Prancs, England, the Holy See, Germany, ý Poetp al and Belgium,and fortheC time ( 184) he was seat to the United States. He has been in the Senate of Ecuador, and served under his father at the frst taking of Gusyaquil, in 1860, where he was wounded. In 188$ he commeaded a DON ANTONIO VLORMS. brigade at the siege and attack of Gany aquil, and was one of the lrst to enter the town, contributing greatly to the success of the undertaking by his per seal bravery and daring. The National Assembly rewarded him with one of the four meals distributed after the cam aigne the other three were given to GInerals Ealasar, Darquea, and Camano, the retiring President of Ecuador.
