In the entire history of street car strikes there is none * which was started with such little justification as the one inaugurated by seventy-one of our car men last Thursday.^ Perhaps the best evidence of this is afforded by the strikers themselves, who have publicly abandoned their original demand for Scruggs'reinstatement, and are now conducting the strike on an issue which was not even discussed at the first two conferences between the carmen's representatives and the management.
