FILIENDLY SOCIETIES FETE, YAN YIAN. (FinoM A COaarSPOIDEnsT.) For eloven years past, the friendly societies of the Plenty district have held alarge fete in the Government paddock, near the Yan Yean reservoir, the not proceeds of which are devoted to the distressed Widow and Orphan Fund, music, and other expenses.. No speci fied charge is made for admittance, but subscriptions are received by members of tihe committee on the ground, and the result fairly satisfactory. Shortly after 11 a.m., on Now Year's Day, the members of the Oddfellow,St. Andrew's, Rlechahites, and other kindred societies assembled in front of Morris's Yan Yean Hotel, followed by a large portion of the general public, and preceded by the Emerald Ilill Brass Band playing National airs, and marched up the hill through the reserve, from thence along the Yan Yeas embankment and back again to the crown of the hill,'over looking the reservoir.
