NOTES ON THE ORCHARD. ITEMS iF INTEREST. Three .pumpkins, grown at. "Dove dale," Waipara (N.Z.), by' Mr W. H. Taylor, and removed recently, col lectively weighed 2001bs., their indi vidual weights being 761b., 60lb., and 641b., respectively. The garden in which they weore grown is at the foot of the range, the soil and position be ing well adapted to the growth of prac tically all kinds of vegetables, samples of the senson's yields often figuring as winners at many of the country and suburban exhibitions of garden pro duce. At a recent mass meeting of table grape growers at Fresno it was agreed to organise the Central California Table Grape Growers' Association, with a paid up capital stock of 1 dollar for each acre of table grapes owned by the membership. For the present year, the association will confine itself to the investigation of markets for the bene fit of its members, endeavoring to pre vent the shipment of unripe grapes, even to advertising warnings against it in eastern m...
