The Assembly has been engaged during the lost two niglits in passiog the esti mates. The vote for Education purposes elicited strong comments in condemnation of placing the management ot so large a rum in the hands of an irresponsible Board. Judpe Lilley lays the foundation stone of the Grammar School at Toowoomba. The Government have decided on the removal of the settlement at Somerset to Thursday Island. The colony is unrepresented at the Mel bourne exhibition. The Queensland exhibits in South Kensington, London, are to be forwarded to the Philidelpbia exhibition. July 30. Fitzgera'd, chargrd with an unnatural offence at Callandoon, has been sentenced at the Toowoomba Assizes to twenty years penal servitude ; Berkley and Gibson charged with murder at Londergeld have Leon acquitted. Inquest ot Death An inquest or death was held at 12 c'clock on     Wednesday in the Court-House, touching the   death of James Guy. John Anguin, miner, deposed: Left deceased about 9 o'clock in shaft of Eastward Ho lease whilst he went to the blanksmith's shop; was absent about ten minutes ; when he came back called down the shaft to deceased; he made no answer; heard him groan ; then called Mr   Swan; he lowered witness down in a bucket;   saw deceased lying on his back in the bottom of the shaft; called Wm. Acrid, intemperate, and coarsely insulting, to the last degree, it displays, without dis guise, the insolent pretensions of the Clerical parly-the Irreooncileab'es-who will have all or nothing. Mr. Macrostan stands alone in the Housn as the repre sentative of that party, and has given ample evidence of his devotion to its prin ciples. Owing to hi» misguided zeal a spirit of virulence was infused into the debate, which will soon spread to the whole colony, unless the question is now finally settled.
